Why do Yoga?
Yoga improves balance, flexibility and breathing.  In athletes, yoga can be very beneficial to prevent injury, therefore improving your running.  There are MANY types of Yoga: at Charlottesville Running Company Matt Baldwin, the instructor, selects the best exercises for runners.  These exercises are designed to get the most out of your yoga class and to prevent injury, while making the whole experience fun and relaxing!  The class welcomes to runners and active people of all abilities and experience.  Matt has been teaching Yoga for years and has extensive experience on the subject.

Testimonials:

"I strongly recommend "Yoga for Runners" at CRC.  Since starting the class this past January, I have significantly improved my flexibility and re-focused my breathing patterns.  As a result, I feel more agile on trail races and I have a sense of greater stamina on long distance road runs.  The instructor is wonderful and the class atmosphere is very supportive and enjoyable."  George Gillies

"I wish I had known about yoga for athletes in my younger racing days.  I would have certainly put it to immediate use.  Yoga helped me set a world-age group record in the indoor mile and an Outdoor American Record in the 1,500 meters at age 45.  Too bad I didn't know about Yoga when I was 25!  In the future I will encourage all my athletes to incorporate the practice of Yoga into their weekly training regiment.  It WILL make a difference in your life as an endurance athlete."
